This open source development editor works in Windows, OS X (intel and PowerPC) and Linux. Works very nicely for bash scripting, ruby, perl, html, php, xml and tcl among others. In addition Active State offers a similar IDE for more serious developers.
Komodo Edit Open Source editor works well with many professional enhancements. This is idea fro someone who does some development work but is not ready to plunk down hundreds of dollars for a professional IDE.
