GParted uses libparted to detect and manipulate devices and partition tables while several (optional) filesystem tools provide support for filesystems not included in libparted.
Before Installing
You may find that you need to restart your system in some cases in order for GParted to detect newly added file systems.
To avoid multiple reboots you might want to install all of the additional file systems and file system tool sets before installing GParted.
Canonical provides critical updates for gparted until October 2010.
